How is Deception connected to sowing and reaping?

Galations 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

What is deception?
-deception is the act of being deceived. It is something that deceives or is intended to deceive.

What does it mean to be deceived?
-to be misled by a false appearance or statement.

Eve was deceived by the serpent in the Garden of Eden.
Genesis 3:1-13

-Satan temped Eve and planted a seed of doubt. “Yea, hath God said?”

When we question whether God and His Word really mean what they say, we open the door to deception.

Here Jesus is speaking to His disciples on the mount of Olives.
Matthew 24:4 ¶ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Ephesians 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

The Law of Sowing and Reaping

-What is the law of sowing and reaping?
-Is what I feed on or fill my mind with, important?
-Do my actions have consequences?
-Do Ideas have consequences?

Vs.7b-8
…….for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

What a man sows, that is what he will also reap.
-good for good
-evil for evil

When we sow to (or feed) the flesh and pursue the things that this world has to offer, (such as: pornography, sex, pleasure, wealth, fads, fashions, entertainment, and so on) We will be left spiritually bankrupt, empty, without peace, without joy, without true fulfillment, lost, hopeless, and unsatisfied.

1Corinthians 6:9 ¶ Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

When we sow to the Spirit, we will reap the fruit of the Spirit and Life Everlasting.

What are the fruits of the Spirit?
-Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Temperance.

Vs. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Is what we reap conditional and if it is….what are the conditions?
-we reap what we sow.
-we will reap if we faint not.

Here is where we must rely on the Spirit of God to empower us, because we are faint and become weary when we rely on our own strength.

Vs. 10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
