The Resurrection

Why are there differences in interpretation of end time events?

1.   The Truth of God’s Word is not affected by man’s failure to comprehend.

2.   Failure to comprehend should be considered an incentive to a more faithful, prayerful study of God’s Word.

3.   It is more important that we be found ready for Christ’s coming than it is for us to know the exact time of His coming or the exact program of blessing and judgments after he does come.

Is there a resurrection?

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

 26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection.

Matthew 22:23 ¶ The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,

24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:

 26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. {seventh: Gr. seven}

27 And last of all the woman died also.

28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Jesus taught of the resurrection that will take place at His return.

John 5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

The apostle spoke often of the resurrection of Jesus and also of the resurrection of the dead.

Acts 24:14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.

1Corinthians 15:12 ¶ Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:

14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.

16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:

17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.

19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

20 ¶ But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

32 If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die.

33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.

35 ¶ But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?

36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:

37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:

38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.

39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.

40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

51 ¶ Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

56  The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 ¶ Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

The resurrection is a result of God’s use of power. It is as easy for Him to call us from the grave as it was to create man in the first place.

As Paul clearly brings out in 1 Corinthians 15:

-concede the fact of the resurrection and you concede the truth of the entire Gospel.

There are a few different aspects to the resurrection.

1.   There was a bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave.

Acts 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

2.   There is a spiritual resurrection for all penitent believers.

Colossians 3:1 ¶ If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

3.   There will be a bodily resurrection for both the just and the unjust.

John 5:28-29

Revelation 20:11 ¶ And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

What will the resurrection mean to you?

-To the righteous, the resurrection will mean “the resurrection of life.”

Colossians 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

-We will have new bodies.

-We will forever be in the presents of Jesus.

-There will be no more pain or heartache.

-There will be complete satisfaction.

-It will be eternal Joy and Bliss.

-No more temptation or sin.

-There will be continual fellowship with God.

Not all people will be a part of the resurrection of life.

For those who have turned their backs on God, it will be “the resurrection of damnation.”

Danial 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

The unrepentant sinner is on a path that leads to everlasting destruction.

Are you ready for His Coming?

The Purpose of His Coming

There are three divisions of time:

1. The Past
2. The Present
3. The Future

The past is gone.
-we can not change our record or what has taken place in the past.

The present is our time of opportunity.
- in light of our past experiences, we can know better how to improve our opportunities in building for our future.

The future is hidden from our sight.
-we do not know what the future holds other then what God has revealed to us through His Word.

The Fact of His Coming

Why should we believe that Jesus will come again?

1. Jesus Christ has promised that He will come again.
2. The two men in white apparel said that He will come again.
3. The apostles told of His coming.

When will Jesus return?

Only the Father knows.
Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

What are some of the signs?

1. People will be deeply absorbed in the things of this world and what this world has to offer them.
2. The Gospel preached to all the world.
3. Great natural occurrences, wars and so on.
4. There will be a falling away from the Truth.

How will Jesus Return?

1.He cometh with clouds and every eye shall see Him.

Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Acts 1
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

2. He will be accompanied by saints and angels.

Matthew 25:31 ¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

1Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. {prevent: or, come before, or, anticipate, or, precede}
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

What does is mean:
1Thessalonians 4:14 even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

John 5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

The conclusion is logical that at Christ’s second coming He will bring with Him the disembodied spirits of the saints who have fallen asleep (or died), will call their sleeping bodies from the grave, and with their soul and bodies reunited and glorified by the power of God, together with the righteous living at His coming, they will meet the Lord in the air.

3. He will come with power and great glory.

Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

There is a remarkable difference between His first coming and His second coming.
-Jesus came as a helpless baby in a very lowly setting.
-Jesus will return with Power and Great Glory as King of kings and Lord of lords.

What is the purpose of His coming?

1. He is coming for His own.

John 14
1 ¶ Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 ¶ And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

2. He is coming to judge the world.

2Thessalonians 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Matthew 25:31 ¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Romans 14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

2Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

3. He is coming to glorify Himself as King of kings and Lord of lords.

Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Why are there differences in interpretation of end time events?
Let me make just a few comments:

ARE YOU READY FOR CHRIST’S COMING?

Matthew 25:1 ¶ Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

The Fact of His Coming
Why should we believe that Jesus will come again?
1. Jesus Christ has promised that He will come again.
John 14:1 ¶ Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Matthew 25:31 ¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

2. The two men in white apparel said that He will come again.

Acts 1:6 ¶ When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
 10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
3. The apostles told of His coming.
Paul in 1ThesSalonians 4
13 ¶ But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Peter in 2 Peter 3
1 ¶ This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 ¶ Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: {standing: Gr. consisting}
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 ¶ But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 ¶ The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 ¶ Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

John in 1John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

When will Jesus return?

Only the Father knows.
Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

We do not know the time of His coming but we can look at what the Word of God says about the signs of His coming, so that we may know that His coming is not far removed.

Scriptures in reference to the signs of His coming:
-Matthew 24
-Mark 13
-Luke 21
-1Timothy 4:1-3
-2Timothy 3:1-5
-2Peter 2

What are some of the signs?

1.    People will be deeply absorbed in the things of this world and what this world has to offer them.
Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

2.   The Gospel preached to all the world.
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
3.   Great natural occurrences, wars and so on.
Mark 13
Mark 13:7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.
Luke 21:5-28
4.   There will be a falling away from the Truth.

1Timothy 4:1 ¶ Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

2Timothy 3:1 ¶ This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Are you ready for His coming?
Mark 13:33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

2Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

Brokenness & Repentance

Psalm 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Where is God?

Does he seem far away?

Have I heard from God recently?

Do I daily commune with Him?

How often do I take time to read and study God’s Word?

How often do I take time to come before God in prayer?

How often do I listen and allow the Spirit of God to teach me and guide me?

What is the condition of my heart?

Has my heart grown cold?

Psalm 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Hebrew word for broken: shabar,  shaw-bar’

to burst, break down, break off, break in pieces, break up, broken-hearted, crush, destroy.

Contrite: to collapse, crushed, injured, afflicted, oppressed.

Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Isaiah 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

What was Jesus’ mission on this earth?

In Isaiah we find this prophecy:

Isaiah 61:1 ¶ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.

Luke 4:16-21

The fulfilment of this prophecy:

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised

Jesus came to:

1.   Preach good tidings to the meek.

2.   Preach the gospel to the poor.

3.   Heal the broken hearted.

4.   Bring deliverance to the captives.

5.   Give sight to the blind.

6.   Free us from bondage.

Jesus shed His blood for….. who?

Salvation is for…..who?

John 3:16……whosoever believeth.

Titus 2:11 ¶ For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

The Great Commission

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

2Peter 3:9 ¶ The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

What is repentance?

-To be penitent for one’s sins and seek to change; deep sorrow, prostrate.

Acts 2:37

The people were pricked in their hearts and asked what they should do.

Acts 2:38

Peter says:

Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Repentance is essential in order to experience new life in Christ Jesus.

What takes place when one repents?

1. Conviction

Conviction is the first step in repentance.

2. Godly Sorrow

Not all sorrow is Godly sorrow. Some people may be sorrowful because they have been caught or because they are facing some kind of punishment because of their evil deeds.

Paul says in 2Corinthians 7:10

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

Not to be repented of…… irrevocable:–without repentance, not to be repented of.

Godly sorrow is grief or a deep feeling of sorrow because of having sinned against God.

3. Confession

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye

may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

4. Forsaking Sin

Balaam, Saul, Achan, and others confessed that they had sinned, but they continued living in sin.

David and the prodigal son also confessed there sin but they turned from their sin and left it behind.

The truly penitent not only confess their sin but they, through the grace of God, forsake their sin.

Romans 6

1 ¶ What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

5. Restitution

Zacchaeus made restitution with those he wronged.

Luke 19:5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.

6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

6. A Change of Heart.

True repentance produces:

A change of mind.

A change of feelings.

A change of attitude toward sin and righteousness.

And a change of Heart!!!!!

Without a change of heart, the rest of these points are of little avail.

A person that truly repents, no longer lives for himself but he lives for God.

Repentance is essential to Salvation.

Luke 13:1 ¶  There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?

3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?

5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Christ began His earthly ministry preaching repentance and He concluded His earthly ministry preaching repentance.

Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Luke 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

48 And ye are witnesses of these things.

Repentance: (subjectively) compunction (for guilt, including reformation); by implication, reversal (of (another’s) decision):–repentance.

Remission: freedom; (figuratively) pardon:–deliverance, forgiveness, liberty, remission.

Peter speaking:

Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

Have you laid your burden of sin at the foot of the cross?

Have you come before the Lord in repentance, confessing your sins to Jesus? 1 John 1:9

Have you found freedom from the bondage of sin?

If you don’t know where you are in your life, and your walk with the Lord….ask yourself this question: What kind of fruit is coming out of my life?

Is Jesus truly Lord of your life?

Husbands, Love your Wives!

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Ephesians 5:21-33

Husbands are called to be leaders…….. not dictators.
Husbands are the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church.
Summit yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

How should a husband love his wife?
Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Ephesians 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
Ephesians 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
Colossians 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
1Peter 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

As husbands, we are called to:
-love our wives as Christ loves the church.
-give of ourselves as Christ gave His life for the church.
-love our wives, as our own bodies.
-love our wives, as ourselves.
-love our wives without bitterness.
-show honor.
-work together as a team.
-Christlike leadership.
-discover the heart of our wife.

If I am struggling in my marriage or if I come from a broken Marriage, there is one thing I must do.
1. Look into my own heart and allow God to change me.
As husbands, we hold the keys to a successful marriage.
As long as I cast blame on my wife, I will be defeated.

We should be asking:
-How self-centered am I?
-Have I allowed God to teach me how to Love?
-Are my responses Christlike?
-Am I sensitive to my wife’s spirit?
-Do I understand her heart?

How can I be a Spiritual leader in the home if I am not sensitive to her spirit, if I do not understand her heart, if I do not respond in a Christlike manner, if I do not know how to love, and if I am full of self?
Am I willing to take a journey of discovery, which includes dying to self and learning to become a caring, sensitive, loving, and Christlike husband?
For most men, dying to self comes hard.
As we focus on dying to self, it is important that we focus primarily on the areas that we (husbands) need to change and not on areas that my wife needs to change.

2Corinthians 13:4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Jesus Christ wants to purge us from our unChrist-like ways.

There are four male prejudices that we as husbands need to die to:
1. Woman are impossible to understand!
-One thing you can get most men to agree on is: the mysterious nature of women.
1Peter 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
The Apostle Peter clearly did not consider living with our wives in an understanding way an impossible task. He considered it absolutely essential to a vital relationship with God.
Our problem as men is that we are not always willing to put forth the effort to understand our wife, especially when we see it as being impossible.
At times we don’t understand our wives because the flesh is such a dominant influence.
We can learn to understand our wives and by doing so, it will drastically change our marriage for the better.
2. Women are the real problem!
-The most significant problem is that we as husbands have failed to exhibit Christlike leadership in our homes.
-When we are unwilling to learn how to understand our wives, we limit ourselves in bringing lasting solutions to relationship problems.
-Most men do not believe that they are at the root of the problem.
3. Women are inferior to men.
-This is often demonstrated by the demands that we place on our wives.
4. Men are supposed to be “the Boss”.
- The roll of boss means that the husband can disregard his wife’s needs while taking care of his own.
-As husbands, we are called to genuine spiritual leadership.

We need to stop thinking of ourselves as:
-the boss
-the king
-the emperor
-or possibly even the dictator

We are called to leadership in the home by:
-dying to self
-putting self-last and others first

Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

When a man is willing to yield his “throne” to Christ, there will be a remarkable change in the dynamics of his home.
In order to be the spiritual leader in the home, we need to become Christ’s representative and be purged from unChristlike attitudes and behavior.
James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

A wife wants her husband to be her spiritual leader but she is designed by God to feel secure only when she sees that her husband is not the final authority in their marriage, but that he is looking to God for direction and guidance.

God is calling husbands to a deeper commitment to Himself.

HONESTY

What is honesty?

Honesty is a reflection of who we are and what or who we worship.

Honesty means: uprightness, integrity, trustworthiness, truthfulness, sincerity, freedom from deceit or fraud.

Honest means: to be honorable in principles, intentions, and actions; upright.

Romans 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

-Provide means: to think or mediate beforehand.

-Things honest. Literally, things beautiful, or comely.

-The connection requires us to understand it respecting conduct, and especially our conduct towards those who injure us.

If you want to ruin the Truth, stretch it. ~ unknown author

Six things that the Lord hates and the seventh is an abomination to Him.

Proverbs 6:16-19

16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

   1. A proud look.

   2. A lying tongue.

   3. Hands that shed innocent blood.

   4. An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations.

   5. Feet that be swift in running to mischief.

   6. A false witness that speaketh lies.

   7. Sowing discord among the bretheren.

Is honesty important?

Is it important that we are honest in all areas of life?

Can an honest person be trusted?

Can a dishonest person be trusted?

Dishonesty breaks down and destroys trust.

Proverbs 11:1 ¶ A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.

Proverbs 12:22 ¶ Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

The Parable of the Sower

Luke 8:5-15

5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.

7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.

8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

13  They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Honesty will show itself by its fruits.

Honesty is important in leadership and in carrying out responsibility.

Acts 6:1-7

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

1Timothy 2:1-4

1 ¶ I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Honesty comes from a heart that is surrendered to God, and a heart that is in fellowship with Him.

Honesty is anchored in truth.

Honesty is up-building.

Honesty builds lasting relationships.

Dishonesty brings contention and distrust.

Dishonesty tears down and destroys.

Dishonesty brings fear and confusion.

Am I honest in word and deed?

Do I stretch the truth in order to make something sound better?

Am I really honest in the struggles that I face?

*HEAVEN*

Am I on the road that leads to eternal Life?

Am I following Jesus Christ?

Is Heaven real?

Will Heaven be reality for me?

Psalm 119:105 ¶Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Jesus said in:

John 14:1 ¶ Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father’s house (abode) are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.

What is Heaven?

Geneses 1:1 ¶ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

The word heaven is defined as:

1. The aerial heavens- where the birds fly, the clouds float, the rain and snow are formed.

2. The broad expanse- the region of the stars.

3. The heaven of heavens- the place where God dwells, the eternal paradise of God where God and saints and angels will spend eternity.

How does God describe Heaven?

1. In John 14 it is described as a place. From this we understand that heaven is not merrily a condition but is the eternal dwelling place of God, where God the Saviour dwells and where saints and angels will spend eternity with Him.

2. It is the high and holy place.

Isaiah 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

High because it is above all places.

Holy because it is inhabited by Holy beings. Sin will never enter heaven.

1Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

3. It is a better country.

Hebrews 11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

All that is in this world will pass away.

1John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Matthew 6:19 ¶ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

1Peter 1:24 ¶ For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Revelation7:16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.

17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

4. It is a place of many mansions.

John 14:2

5. It is a place of protection, safety, and preservation.

6. It is a place where there are pleasures for evermore.

Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

7. It is a place of spotless purity and fullness of glory.

1Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

1Corinthians 13:8 ¶ Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Isaiah 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 12:1 ¶ Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Will heaven be reality for you?

Am I living for the pleasures of this life or an I living for eternity?

Where will you spend eternity?

We have God’s Word, the road map to Eternal Life.

There is only one way to God and that is only through His son Jesus Christ.

=GIVING=

Proverbs 28:27 ¶ He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

How important is it to give to those in need?

1John 3:17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

James 2:14 ¶ What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

The condition of the world

-Every day 29,000 children die from preventable poverty-related causes.

-850 million people go to bed hungry.

-115 million children have no opportunity for education.

-there are 143 million orphans.

-and an estimated 246 million children suffering in the bonds of child labor.

Our resources

-Experts estimate the for $13 billion a year we could provide basic nutrition for every starving person in the world.

-American Christians spend $21 billion a year on cable TV.

-For $6 billion a year we could educate every child currently not in school.

-American Christians spend $11 billion a year on coffee.

-For $9 billion a year we could provide safe drinking water for the millions who die without it.

-American Christians spend $21 billion a year on soft drinks.

What does God want from Me?

Is giving an option for a Christian?

1John 3:17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

How much should a person give?

2Corinthians 9:6 ¶ But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

How should a person give?

Matthew 6:1 ¶ Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward

3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

What did Jesus teach about giving?

Matthew 5:42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

The rich young man

Mark 10:17 ¶ And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.

21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

Mark 9:41 ¶ For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

Examples of giving in the early church

Acts 4:32 ¶ And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

35 And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

Acts 11:27 ¶ And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.

29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:

30 Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

Luke 21:1 ¶ And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.

2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

Light or Darkness?

Halloween is a celebration of darkness, fear, and evil.

How should a Christian respond?

What does the bible say?

The Bible explicitly forbids God’s people to be involved in witchcraft, spiritism, and the demonic.

Deuteronomy 18:9 ¶ When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. (the heathen)

10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, (child sacrifice) or that useth divination, (fortune telling or occult knowledge of the future) or an observer of times, (interprets omens or tells the future by astrology) or an enchanter, (one who casts spells or practices the magic arts) or a witch,(one who practices sorcery)

11 Or a charmer, (one who casts spells) or a consulter with familiar spirits, (one who consults demons or evil spirits for guidance) or a wizard,  (a spiritist, one who seeks knowledge from the unseen world) or a necromancer.  (one who calls up and consults the dead for guidance and secret knowledge)

12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

13 Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.

1 Samuel 28

Saul consults a witch.

Witchcraft is condemned as one of the works of the flesh that God will judge.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

The conversion of the heathen in the book of Acts brought conviction against heathen and occult practices. These new believers wanted nothing to do with the practices that God had delivered them from.

Acts 19:18 And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.

19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;

10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove (rebuke) them.

Ephesians 2:1 ¶ And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

4 ¶ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Matthew 5:13 ¶ Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Ephesians 6:10 ¶ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

1Thesalonians 5:22  Abstain from all appearance of evil.

We do not need to live in fear because of who we belong to.

1John 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

As a born again child of God I have been set free from the powers of darkness and I can live in the Power of God.

But when I say no to God or resist God, I am opening the door to the powers of darkness, fear, evil, and confusion.

Why are so many (Christians) living a double life and a life of defeat?…..because of deception

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
