Oneness & Unity in Christ

Is God Able?

Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

How Great is our God?

Do you believe that God is able to do more then what we can ask or even comprehend?

Does God have limitations?

Is God Able to Deliver?

As God delivered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego….is He able to deliver you from that which seems to be impossible?

What is the one thing that all mankind are at one time in bondage to, and desperately need deliverance from?

-SIN

What are the three things that I mentioned last Sunday that are as a cancer to the soul?

-Anger

-Bitterness

-Pride

What happens to the person that does not repent from this cancer of the soul?

-I believe that their spirit dies and their heart becomes cold.

Deliverance will only come as we yield ourselves to the one that is the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

When seeking deliverance, ask yourself these three question.

  1. Do I blame God for the situation that I find myself in?
  2. Do I take personal responsibility for who I have become?
  3. Am I willing to do whatever it takes to find peace with God?

Unless we are willing to take full responsibility of our actions, and are willing to do whatever it takes to change, we will continue to blame others for our struggles, and the results of this way of life is:

-hopelessness

-discouragement

-and despair.

The choice is yours!

Personal responsibility + The Mystery of God = Deliverance

What is this Mystery of God?

-Redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ!

-Forgiveness, deliverance, and freedom from sin.

-His divine Grace that enables us to live in oneness and in harmony with God.

Ephesians 4:1-7

Ephesians 4:1 ¶ I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

What are you called to?

-What is the purpose for which you were created?

-Are we called to serve self over God?

-How many of us serve self over serving God?

What makes you worthy of the vocation wherewith you are called?

Is your worthiness:

  1. self generated?
  2. a gift given to you by God?
  3. both of the above?
  4. or none of the above?

To walk worthy means:

-to live or act appropriately after a godly sort.

Do you have a part to play in whether or not you are worthy before a Holy and Righteous God?

-Of our own self we are completely unworthy, but as we believe and put our trust in God, He enables and empowers us to live in harmony with Him.

Why are we instructed to walk worthy?

-God receive ultimate Glory through a life that is completely dedicated & surrendered to Him!

2 ¶ With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

What is the evidence of those who are following Christ?

There will always be:

-oneness and unity.

-humility.

-peace.

-an outpouring of genuine love.

-purpose and meaning to life.

What is the evidence of those who give lip service, but are following self and serving the devil?

There is:

-conflict.

-unrest.

-an absence of peace.

-a lack of purpose and meaning to life.

As we follow Christ, we will come to understand a unity and oneness that will only be found in the Kingdom of God.

4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

There is:

-one Body.

-one Spirit.

-one Hope.

-one Lord.

-one Faith.

-one Baptism.

-and one God.

I want to take a closer look at three of these ones.

  1. One Body

I believe that Paul is emphasizing the unity of believers, and that there is no longer any difference between the Jew and the Gentile but that we are one in Christ Jesus.

We have been set free from sin and have been made equals through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ!

As the body of Christ, we are called to live in the unity of Christ!

  1. One Spirit

Is there only one Holy Spirit?

What is the work of the Holy Spirit?

John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

The Holy Spirit:

will guide you into all truth!

-will not speak of himself but will speak what he hears through the oneness of the Godhead.

-will show you things to come.

            -will glorify Christ.

-brings completeness to the work of Redemption.

Is it possible to follow Christ without the Holy Spirit?

Unless we are filled with the Power and Spirit of God, we are doomed for defeat…..

…..but as we follow Christ & are filled with His Spirit, we will live in harmony & unity with God and the People of God.

How many Spirits are of God?

Is it possible to be filled with the Holy Spirit along with other evil spirits?

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

  1. One God

How many gods are there?

-There are many things that can take the place of God, but there is only One True God!

Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

1Corinthians 8:5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)

6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

1Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Revelations 22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

How much Grace is given to you?

Ephesians 1:3 ¶ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

We can rest in the fact that God will give us exactly what we need, when we need it…

…if we put our trust in Him completely!
